How to get cast without an agent

An agent opens doors, but the work of getting seen is yours either way. Start with a clean, current portfolio: five to eight images that show range, one reel under ninety seconds, and a bio that names your union status, location and travel radius. Apply to fewer roles with better tailored materials rather than blanket-applying to everything. Track every submission, follow up once, and keep a running list of the casting directors who respond. Within a season you will have a shortlist of people who know your name, which is exactly the leverage an agent would have been selling you.
